The farewell blog at the end of our last class meeting...
Participating in this class has helped me see first hand how valuable web 2.0 tools can be in educational settings. Also, being in a class of beginners allows me to prepare for supporting my students as they begin to use the web more critically. Web and technology literacy is important to develop for all students if we have any interest in creating equitable access. Although students are able to negotiate technology better than most of us teachers, they don't necessarily do so in ways that allow them to be discriminating consumers of digital commodities. Unfortunately, most of us are not versed enough in the digital universe to help our students navigate in this new and fast evolving world. It is imperative that we make it a priority to at least catch up and to begin to help our students progress in their learning. I think that participating in this class is a crucial first step. Thank you for providing us with this opportunity.
